Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe: One of Nature’s Greatest Wonders 19–21 September 2023
Victoria Falls is easily one of the most impressive natural sights I have ever witnessed. It was the main reason I came to Zimbabwe, and it did not disappoint.
The Mighty Victoria Falls
Often called “Mosi-oa-Tunya” (The Smoke That Thunders), Victoria Falls is absolutely massive and far more spectacular than Niagara Falls in my opinion. The sheer power, the volume of water, the constant mist, and the loud roar create an overwhelming and unforgettable experience. Standing close to the edge and feeling the spray is something you have to experience in person.
The falls are a true must-see in Southern Africa.
Memorable Evening Experience
In the evening I went to a restaurant with a lively atmosphere full of tourists. They had a fantastic traditional drum show with energetic performances and even face painting. It was a fun, cultural, and entertaining way to end the day (see pictures below).
Final Thoughts
Even with only a short stay, Victoria Falls left a lasting impression. The raw power of nature here is on another level. Combined with the friendly local vibe and cultural touches, it made for a very memorable visit.
Would I recommend Victoria Falls? Absolutely yes! It is one of those bucket-list destinations you should see at least once in your lifetime. Whether you visit from the Zimbabwe or Zambia side, the falls are worth the trip. I would love to return one day to explore more of Zimbabwe and perhaps see the falls during different seasons.
