Maldives: Paradise Bliss & Pure Relaxation 27 February – 02 March 2025
The Maldives is one of those rare destinations I can visit again and again without getting tired of it. This was my third trip, and I already know I’ll be back to try new resorts.
Stay at Velassaru
I stayed at Velassaru, a beautiful overwater and beach resort. It offered the perfect mix of luxury, comfort, and that classic Maldivian vibe. (My previous stay was at the excellent Gili Lankanfushi.)
The Maldives Formula
There’s honestly not much “to do” in the Maldives — and that’s exactly why it’s perfect.
You arrive at Malé International Airport, then take either a speedboat (for closer resorts) or a scenic seaplane to your island. Once you’re there, life slows down completely. The water is impossibly turquoise, the sand is powdery white, and the atmosphere is wonderfully quiet and peaceful.
Daily life in the resort consisted of:
- Walking barefoot along the beach
- Snorkeling right off the shore (the house reef was great)
- Reading books, relaxing in the villa, or simply doing nothing
- Enjoying incredible sunsets and overwater sunsets
Good resorts here are expensive (expect around CHF 1,000 per night for a high-quality one), but they deliver an experience that’s hard to match anywhere else.
Final Thoughts
The Maldives is the ultimate relaxation destination. Crystal-clear water, stunning beaches, and total peace — it’s ideal for honeymooners, couples, or anyone who needs to disconnect and recharge. There are hundreds of amazing resorts, each with its own character, so you can keep coming back and have a completely different experience every time.
Would I recommend the Maldives? Absolutely — yes! If you’re looking for pure paradise, white sand, and doing nothing in the most beautiful setting possible, the Maldives is unbeatable. I’ll definitely return to discover new islands and resorts.
