Taiwan – Taipei, June 2025
Quick Description:
Taipei perfectly blends traditional Chinese culture with ultra-modern infrastructure. The area around Taipei 101 feels like a futuristic city with strong Chinese roots.
Highlights:
• Excellent foot massages — around 35 USD for a full hour. The Chinese style is the best.
• Must-try restaurant: Din Tai Fung (the original and best one is in Taiwan)
• Great mix of traditional Chinese shops and modern international brands
• Very advanced and clean city in general
Practical Info:
• Immigration was quick and easy — just filled out an arrival card.
• Most places accept card payments, but it’s good to carry some local cash for small shops.
• June is very humid (around 75% humidity), so dress light.
What I Did: I arrived in the morning and took an Uber straight to Taipei 101. The area around the tower has a huge underground food court with excellent Chinese food. I bought a ticket to the observatory on the 89th floor — the elevator is one of the fastest in the world and the view over Taipei is worth it (around 20 USD).
Afterwards I got a fantastic foot massage before heading back to the hotel.
On the second day I did a 2.5-hour guided city tour (booked on GetYourGuide the night before for just 30 USD). It was excellent and I learned a lot about Taiwan’s interesting history. Afterwards I finally ate at the original Din Tai Fung — it was definitely better than the ones I tried in Dubai.
After some more walking and dinner in the Taipei 101 mall, I headed back to the airport for my next destination: Hong Kong.
