Amsterdam – Easy Vibes & Modern Art 24–25 July 2026
I’ve been to Amsterdam a couple of times before (once by car from Switzerland). This time I flew in from Zürich for a quick two-day visit.
A BMW electric taxi from AMS cost me €60 — too much. On the way back I took an Uber for €30. Lesson learned. Dinner was a solid mid-range Argentinian spot with good meat for around €60.
Most of the action sits in the centre, around the red-light district. The main reason I came was the Stedelijk Museum. Clean, well-curated modern art — solid 8/10.
I stopped at a barber and used my Arabic. Many of the guys there are Syrian (like in Switzerland), and he was surprised a European-looking guy spoke it well. The stylish cafés look great but are full of carbs, buns and sugar — not ideal for me.
Amsterdam has a relaxed, easy-going vibe. Not as ambitious as Dubai, Moscow or Bali. Lots of tourists, but the overall feel is still nice and unhurried.
Short trip, good museum, a few practical lessons.
