Sri Lanka, Colombo – Tropical Introduction 27–29 March 2023
Sri Lanka gave me a very pleasant first impression of the country. I went there on the recommendation of a staff member from the Maldives, who arranged both my hotel and guide.
Stay & Experience
The hotel was a bit outside the city and on the cheaper side, but everything worked out well and the experience was positive. The people in Sri Lanka were genuinely nice and welcoming.
Impressions
Colombo and the surrounding area offered beautiful nature and a relaxed tropical atmosphere. There weren’t many tourists around, which made it feel more authentic. The food had strong Indian influences and was very tasty.
I also tried a traditional Ayurveda massage — it was a unique experience, though the environment was not the most hygienic.
Final Thoughts
Even with only three days, Sri Lanka left me with a good feeling. The nature, friendly people, and relaxed vibe made it enjoyable. It’s a great destination for those who want something a bit more authentic and less commercial.
Would I recommend Sri Lanka? Yes — I would happily return. It’s perfect for nature, culture, and good food. A nice, laid-back introduction to the country.
