Quito, Ecuador: The Center of the World 10–12 July 2023
Quito, the capital of Ecuador, sits high in the Andes and offers a dramatic setting. My highlight was a tour to the famous Mitad del Mundo monument — the official “Center of the World,” where the equator line (0°0’0”) crosses.
Standing with one foot in the Northern and one in the Southern Hemisphere was a fun and unique experience. The monument and surrounding area are well organized for tourists and worth visiting.
Short but memorable stop in Ecuador — the high altitude and equatorial location make it special.
