Sydney, Australia: Iconic Harbour & Wildlife Wonders 13–19 January 2025
Sydney made an immediate and strong impression. This was my first visit to Australia, and the city perfectly combines stunning nature, iconic landmarks, and a relaxed yet cosmopolitan vibe.
Hotel Stay
I stayed at the Four Seasons Hotel Sydney, which offered an excellent location right next to the harbour. The views and convenience were outstanding.
First Impressions
Just minutes after arriving and dropping my bags, I walked out of the hotel and was greeted by the world-famous Sydney Harbour Bridge and the iconic Sydney Opera House. The setting is even more beautiful in real life than in photos. For my first dinner, I went to a harbour steak restaurant — and yes, Australia really does have excellent meat. A perfect welcome meal.
Highlights
The next day I booked a full-day tour through GetYourGuide. It was one of the best decisions of the trip:
- Beautiful countryside landscapes
- A fantastic zoo where I saw kangaroos, koalas, and many other unique Australian animals up close for the first time.
Sydney also offers great shopping opportunities. You’ll find famous Australian brands like UGG everywhere, along with many international stores.
The city has a very international feel — lots of Asian faces and a diverse, multicultural atmosphere that gives it a vibrant energy.
Final Thoughts
Sydney is a fantastic introduction to Australia. The combination of the spectacular harbour, iconic sights, wildlife experiences, and good food makes it easy to fall in love with the country. One week felt like a good start, but it definitely left me wanting more.
Would I recommend Sydney? Absolutely yes! It’s a beautiful, welcoming city and a great gateway to Australia. I will definitely come back — next time I’d love to explore other cities and regions across this huge country.
